SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office hosted its Lifesaving Awards to Correctional Deputies on Wednesday.

Amongst the deputies who were awarded were some who rescued inmates from suicide attempts, drug overdose and tragic floodwaters.

A Distinguished Service Medal was awarded to deputies involved in an incident in Avila Beach with hostages.

A suspect trespassing at a hotel was holding three people hostage and threatening to harm them.

Deputies were able to find a way into the room, free the hostages and arrest the suspect with no injuries to the hostages.
